Family-owned Savoria Bar and Grill in Mentor offers relaxed atmosphere, quality food- The News-Herald
Erik Huff has 25 years of experience working in the restaurant business and has seen his sons, Christian and Andrew follow in his footsteps.
Those footsteps have led the Huffs to Mentor where they own and operate Savoria Bar and Grill, located inside the Holiday Inn at 7703 Reynolds Road.
Savoria is a family-owned and family-run restaurant that features high quality food and hand-crafted cocktails in a fine dining setting while maintaining reasonable prices and a relaxed atmosphere, Erik said.
Aside from Erik’s quarter century of work in the restaurant business, Christian has 17 years experience and Andrew has eight.
Nov. 10, 2024 was the one-year anniversary at the current Mentor location.
“We do have plans on expansion but not so big where food quality starts to be dismissed because that’s something that is extremely important to us,” Erik said. “Savoria is great quality of food with a wide range of different options while staying at a decent price point and friendly service.
“We want to be able to be your wedding, anniversary, birthday location but also would like to see people maybe a couple times a week. Being a local spot for everybody that appreciates quality food, nice drinks and respectful service.”Their menu is designed to cater to a wide variety of tastes and includes dinner entrees, burgers, tacos, seafood, flatbreads and much more.
According to cityofmentor.com, they made their presence immediately known by winning awards for “Best Presentation” and “Best Entrée” in the 2023 Taste of Mentor event.
The Huffs owned a BBQ restaurant in Cleveland prior to the COVID-19 pandemic but ended up shutting that down due to location and some internal issues.
“We took on this new venture here in Mentor after being shown the property,” Erik said. “We found the space because our previous restaurant’s landlord had this space available. We saw a decent dining room, two bars and a nice patio and got very excited. We have big plans for the sidebar with nice shareable plates and a elevated cocktail bar down the line and expanding the patio even further.”
Erik said the hanger steak is one of the best sellers because its not very well known. It’s an extremely tender cut of steak with beefy flavor.
He said all of the options of hanger on the menu from the tacos, to flatbread, to regular dinner are delicious, especially accompanied with house-made chimichurri.
“Something that I think would set us apart is the fact we strive to get all higher quality proteins and we make 85 percent of all our sauces, dressings and slaws in house,” Erik said. “We strive to get local things whenever it isn’t made in house like our pierogis are from Pierogis of Cleveland.
“We just try to strive to keep our food fresh and quality as high as possible,” he added. “As well as trying to treat both our staff, and customers like family with our light-hearted attitude and comfortable atmosphere.”
