The Lake County Taco Trail returns
PAINESVILLE – The Lake County Taco Trail is back for 2025, as announced by the Lake County Visitors Bureau (LCVB), Tour Lake County, OH.
Now in its third year, the Lake County Taco Trail invites taco enthusiasts to explore 20 family-owned taquerias and restaurants throughout the county, discovering new and delicious flavors along the way.
“Following the success of the 2024 Taco Trail, which grew by over 25 percent, and attracted nearly 1,900 passholders from more than eight states, the 2025 Taco Trail is introducing new prizes and restaurant offers!” according to a Tour Lake County press release.
“We are more excited about the 2025 Taco Trail than ever before,” Neil Stein, executive director of Tour Lake County, said. “Participants are going to love the new, black T-shirt this year, which has been designed to look like a concert T-shirt and lists all the participating restaurants on the back; like a concert shirt that traditionally lists tour dates and locations. Plus, the Tacos-for-a-Year grand prize is going to make one taco aficionado very happy in 2026!”
To join the Lake County Taco Trail for free, participants can download the 2025 version of the pass at tourlakecounty.com/tacotrail, ElCaminoDeTacos.com or re-download for those who participated in the 2024 trail.
With 1,200 points, passholders will earn a “Touring for Tacos” T-shirt featuring Tour Lake County’s Taco Trail mascot, Tito. Everyone who earns their T-shirt will also be entered into a drawing in January 2026 for a chance to win tacos for a year.
Tour Lake County is also encouraging visits this February as part of the “Double the Love of Tacos” promotion. During February, passholders who check in at any Taco Trail location will earn 150 points instead of the usual 100 points.
Tour Lake County announced that, during the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, presented by HOLA, there will be more taco fun in downtown Painesville’s Veterans Park.
“Keep your eyes open for more new restaurants coming to Lake County in 2025, including a new Don Tequila location in Wickliffe and the relocation of El Paladar de Mexico to The Tower located on the Square in Downtown Painesville,” the press release states.
The Lake County Taco Trail was created to spread the word both locally, regionally and nationally about the remarkable, but sometimes overlooked Mexican restaurants throughout the county and to showcase the area as a destination for travelers looking for their next unique culinary adventure, according to a press release from Tour Lake County, OH.
Lake County is home to nearly two dozen unique, authentic Mexican restaurants and is the go-to place for taco lovers.
