Music will provide a reason for many people to visit Fairport Harbor Village on Aug. 3.

That’s when the Jam by the Sand Concert will take place from 1 to 10 p.m. at the Fairport Harbor Lighthouse Amphitheater, 301 Huntington Beach Drive.

Jam by the Sand is part of the 2024 Live @ the Lighthouse concert series, presented by the Fairport Harbor Arts and Culture Alliance.

Admission is free, and visitors are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to use on the grass between the historic lighthouse and amphitheater stage, which serves as a seating area.

Here’s the schedule of groups that will perform, according to a news release from the alliance:

• 1 p.m. — Jeremiah Jams Band. This indie rock band from Appleton, Wisconsin, is led by husband and wife and singer/songwriting duo Jeremiah and Emily Jams.

• 4 p.m. — The Groovy Roots. Founded in Northeast Ohio, the group performs original psychedelic funk rock, the alliance’s news release stated.

• 5:30 p.m. — Hey Mavis. This Americana group is from Kent.  Americana is a musical genre that incorporates elements of categories such as folk, blues, country and bluegrass.

• 8 p.m.— Black Ridge. The concert’s headliner “is a high-energy rock band from Pittsburgh that blends a classic rock influence with a modern edge,” the news release stated.

In addition, Citizens’ Dead will serve as Jam by the Sand’s “house band,” playing music between all acts on the main stage.

Citizens’ Dead is a Grateful Dead tribute band with members from Boston and New York. The group played in 2023 at the Jerry Garcia Birthday Celebration concert that was part of last year’s Live @ the Lighthouse seasonal lineup.

Spectators at the Aug. 3 Jam by the Sand concert also will have plenty of choices for meals and snacks if they work up an appetite. Food trucks that will be on hand for the event, according to the alliance’s news release, are: Rabbit Food, Smooth Rider, Cheesy Dave’s, Off the GRIDdle, CLE Chicken, Pasta Tivo, Manna Truck and You Enjoy My Donuts.

Beer also will be sold at the concert.

Event organizers tout the Lighthouse Amphitheater as a superb location for their outdoor concerts.

“With lighthouses in the foreground and background, Lake Erie’s best beach to the east, and sunsets that are incomparable, you can’t ask for a better venue,” the alliance stated in its news release.

2024 marks the fourth year that Fairport Harbor Arts and Culture Alliance has planned and carried out its Live @ the Lighthouse concert series.

The alliance consists of local small-business owners and community leaders who are dedicated to the support and growth of the arts and culture community in Fairport Harbor.
